The Amoureux House Project

The Amoureux House Project is an effort to make the cultural, historical, and architectural significance of Ste. Genevieve's Amoureux House come alive for all - particularly youth and educators. At the heart of AmoureuxHouse.org is the story of Pelagie Vital Amoureux. A slave who made this French Colonial gem her home.

Their goal is to pass along Pelagie's story so it will inspire others to find their own stories and experience the universal truths of home and community and bring Ste. Genevieve's rich African-American history to light.

Moros and The Haitian Revolution

The Haitian Revolution is a reference to the slave uprising in Saint Domingue, a French colony at the time, that involved one of the prominent families of Ste. Genevieve.

Today the story can be heard by touring the Jacques Guibourd Historic House or get a preview of it by visiting the Foundation for Restoration of Ste. Genevieve's website, HistoricSteGen.org. This enlightening story of Moros and Jacques Guibourd, his owner, is a touching and uplifting story of Moros the slave will leave you with a desire to want to know more.
